Swimming, Sauna and Team Spirit — How Small Traditions Shape Our Culture at Trineria

Culture grows from everyday moments. For us, some of those moments just happen to include goggles, swimming lanes and a bit of steam.

Culture grows from everyday moments.

For us, some of those moments just happen to include goggles, swimming lanes and a bit of steam.

Where it all began

It started with a casual chat about diving. Someone mentioned taking a course someday. Another joked that maybe we should first relearn how to swim properly.

A few weeks later, there we were — in the pool.

The diving course is still on our to-do list, but swimming stuck around.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, when the office is lively, a few of us head to the pool after work. Lead Developer Sami has been the driving force, keeping the routine alive even through summer. CTO Jussi recently jumped back in as well. Of course, no one’s obliged to join — it’s just one of the ways we unwind and stay connected.

A good way to break the day

So far, we’ve been swimming after work, but there’s talk about trying a lunchtime swim. It might be the perfect way to clear the mind before the afternoon’s problem-solving.

By the time we climb out of the pool and sit down in the sauna, work thoughts have drifted away. Movement, warmth and conversation do wonders — for both body and mind.

And you can tell: focus sharpens, the mood lifts and everything feels a little lighter.

More than just exercise

Our swimming sessions aren’t really about training.

They’re shared moments — talking about code, weekend plans or just life in general. In the sauna, titles fade away and the conversation flows more freely.
Sometimes even other sauna-goers join in, and for a while, a small community forms — completely unplanned.

That’s what Trineria’s culture is made of: curiosity, ease and trust that things fall into place when people enjoy working together.

At Trineria, culture lives in the everyday. Sometimes that means building smart industrial solutions. Sometimes it means a good swim and sauna to end the day.
