Ten Years of Bravery, Honesty, and Harmory – The Trineria Story

This spring of 2026, Trineria marks ten full years of active business. It sounds like a long time, and in many ways, it is. In this blog post, we reflect on our journey to becoming an IIoT partner.

The Beginning: Responsibility Before Vision

We didn't found the company off the back of a PowerPoint slide or a polished business plan. Our origin was far more concrete and human: several customers had been left stranded when their previous software vendor left their projects unfinished. That didn't feel right.

Our founders Leif and Jussi made a decision you could call bold, or responsible, depending on which angle you look at it from. Someone had to ensure the continuity of those customers' projects, and if no one else would, we would. That's how the company was born: not around a grand vision, but around a real customer need.

It was then that we signed our first employment contract with Sami, who remains our longest-serving employee. It was a good start.

The Growth Years: Stability and a Strategic Leap

In the first years, we focused on delivering successful software development projects for our customers, from an ERP system for the construction industry to the kitchen infrastructure controls for a cruise ship.

At the same time, the organisation grew. New customers came to us through inbound, and we were able to recruit many exceptional professionals to join Trineria. We have been fortunate to build significant, long-term partnerships alongside our customers throughout all these years.

One pivotal shift along the way was the transition from being a purely reactive software vendor to becoming a strategic partner. One of our current majority owners, Tero, played a central role in that change. Instead of simply responding to customer requests, we began charting our own course and developing a clear view of where we wanted to go and with whom. The path towards digitalization, smart manufacturing and circular economy had been opened.

Throughout the growth years, recruiting the right people, sharing responsibility, and continuous learning have been the foundations of our development. A company only grows as fast as its people can.

Culture: Three R's

If we had to sum up our way of working in three words, they would be: Bravery, Honesty, and Harmory. We have processes, but we haven't turned them into bureaucracy. Our values show in how we meet our customers, how we take responsibility, and how we speak to one another.

"I think it has always been the case that no one in the company enjoys processes for the sake of processes. Nobody needs to be stuffy. Just do interesting work efficiently and forget all the unnecessary fuss. That approach has always been strongly present."

— Leif Setälä

Where we still want to grow is in strengthening our culture in the day-to-day reality of remote work. We enjoy doing things together, but in our hybrid and remote routines, we could probably share a little more, and not just about interesting work projects, but about our other passions and interests too. We want our workplace to be somewhere people genuinely want to share.

Looking Ahead: Open Ecosystems and Smart Industry

The world is changing fast. Manufacturing and the circular economy are the sectors where we see the greatest opportunities and where we can create the most value for our customers. Transparency in data and material flows is a megatrend that isn't going anywhere. If anything, it's only growing.

At the core of our strategy is a simple but ambitious goal: to be the most sought-after IIoT partner. One that is genuinely a pleasure to work with. One that builds open ecosystems rather than closed silos. One you can trust, just as those very first customers have trusted us and our services over the past ten years.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey, our customers, our partners, and above all, our team.

The next ten years? Let's build them together.
